Need help: audio from MBox 2 Pro not making it to Logic 9

I'm trying to record audio into Logic Pro 9 through my MBox 2 Pro. I'm not sure what the problem is, but the audio is not making it into Logic. I've checked the audio Midi setup and I'm not sure it's setup up correctly.

I have ProTools 9 also installed on my computer. Could this be part of the problem?

Audio MIDI Setup: "DigiDesign MBox 2 Pro" appears in a list, next to "Built-in" devices, "Digi CoreAudio Device" (not sure what this is), and a "Pro Tools Aggregate I/O". Sometimes when I click on "DigiDesign MBox 2 Pro" I see input and output settings, but I can't adjust them (they are all set to 0). Other times I don't see the input and output settings. This confuses me... not sure what's wrong there. The "DigiDesign MBox 2 Pro" is set to be used as the input device.

In Logic: Preferences > Audio > Devices > Core Audio: Input device is set to "DigiDesign MBox 2 Pro".

I/O: All input and output channels appear to be correctly selected on the track. Mic is plugged in to input 1 on the MBox, and the record-enabled track is set to input 1. Although something weird is happening here, because I can't change the input. When I click on the input button on the track, nothing happens. No other options appear. When I opened a new blank file and created an audio track, it automatically assigns audio input 2, and I also cannot change it--nothing happens when I click on the input button.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Oh... forgot to mention I have an iMac with OSX version 10.7.4

Mbox 2 Pro (Digidesign Drivers, Pro Tools) are not fully compatible with Logic Pro 9 and Lion/Mountain Lion - performance (if you get them to work together) leaves a lot to be desired. If you are running Pro Tools successfully, more often than not you will have MIDI driver conflicts. What you can do is completely remove Pro Tools Drivers and start from scratch getting the absolute minimum drivers necessary to run your Mbox 2 Pro on your system, and then try to load the Mbox in Logic. Just understand that natively it may not work well, lots of other interface choices if you are going to use Logic. Lots of stuff on the net about this. I had the very same issues, except my system, and all midi related softwares (Garageband and Logic Pro) became unresponsive when attempting to load either application. I would get a pretty consistent midi timeout errors, as well as both softwares hung for long periods of time before crashing. Check out the folder in finder Library\Audio\Midi Drivers to start - see what's in there - and just delete everything in the folder. Note you won't be able to load Pro Tools (if you use it) by removing the digi drivers. You can also uninstall the Mbox from the System Preferences menu. Give that a try - download new drivers for the Mbox 2 and see if Logic Pro works with it after some configuring. If that doesn't work, I'd switch to a new interface - I'm actually selling my Mbox 2 pro for something that actually works with Logic Pro Natively. Hope it helps!

The local University's computer lab has been running Mbox 2's with Lion (not Mountain), I think 10.7.8, with no problems. They have Reason 6.5, Logic 9, PT 10, & Cubase (not sure if 5 or 6), + several others like Finale, Sibelious, and whatever the Ed. program uses. These are the USB interfaces. I have an Mbox 2 pro with L9 and also no issues - although I am on Snow Leopard.

Although I am eager to replace it, it can be made to work.

Edit: I also have PT 10 and run both, sometimes even simultaneously.

I have found a solution for anyone having audio issues (mainly sound deterioration in all music related applications/software). After troubleshooting for a month (and getting mad), I found something. When I upgraded to Mavericks thats when the issue arose. I managed to downgrade to Mountain Lion (since my new Mac shipped with Mountain Lion) although Im not sure its necessary to downgrade once you do what I did to fix the noise issue. This is more for Pro-Tools users and those who use Digidesign interfaces (I have an Mbox 2 Mini). I have Pro-Tools 8.03, but I uploaded a newer driver update for Pro-Tools 9, and everything is fixed now. There are certainly compatibility issues with OSX and third party software and devices, and both Apple and Avid (Digidesign) don't want to deal with anyone that does'nt want to upgrade to the newest stuff, but for those of us that cannot afford to upgrade and need to work, this is a solution.

Check your drivers!
