Why does Facebook website (not app) crash in Safari?

Anyone else having a problem with FaceBook crashing...and no other websites? I do not have the FB app, I log in directly via Safari (latest update) and within a few minutes, FaceBook crashes....and keeps crashing even after a re-boot. This does not happen on any other website and I have no problems with Safari, Mail, iBook etc. or any apps.. I have the 3rd gen iPad, wifi, 4G *ha!* ...only a few weeks old...use to have an iPad 2 that ran perfectly. Have contacted Apple several times and they said to keep rebooting, reboot the wifi (which is FINE) and seem to be at a loss to fix this bug, which, obviously is a Safari issue since the crashes only happen on FaceBook..again, logged in directly to the website, not via the app. Apple wants me to do a total restore, but I'm dubious. Feedback appreciated!

I've been following this thread for A while. My issue is similar yet different. iPad 2 with plenty of memory and using iOS 6.1.3

I don't use an FB app either and prefer using safari to access FB. My crash ONLY happens After I 'like' a page. It crashes right back to the home screen and also takes down any other connected sites I may have, such as twitter. Then I have to sign back in and start over.

I've contacted my ISP, FB and Apple, no-one can help me. This has been going on for about 3 months. My husband can use his FB account with out any issue on my iPad. Again, this crash only occurs seconds after I 'like' a page. Since I run several FB political pages, I'm starting to get a little paranoid, especially since the news about NSA, PRISM, XKeyscore, etc.

I've reset, closed down apps, cleared cache, reset safari, rebooted the iPad, rebooted my wifi, rebooted my ISP. Nothing works.

Any clues, ideas and suggestions are welcome.

I have the original iPad. (aka iPad 1) It was fine until about 3 months ago or so. I never had problems with it. Now specially today, it crashes about everytime I try to scroll down on the newsfeed part. I never even go to anyother parts of FB so don't know how it would act in my timeline and all. I have tried everything, even deleted a bunch of apps I don't use anymore, and rebooted it several times. Still crashes. I used to be able to just shut it off and turn it back on and that would resolve the problem for a little bit. Now nothing works and it crashes way to often to be enjoyable. I too don't like the app and would rather view the web version of FB.

I am still on IOS 5.1 something or other. My iPad tells me that is the latest version for it. I was almost going to buy a new iPad till I read this post and saw that even the new iPads do the same thing. Saved me some money! 😀

I do believe it is a FB issue and they don't want to fix it. They just changed things again in the last day or two and now it crashes way more then it did last week. I sure hope they do something because I hate the app and I love to surf on FB. 😟

I have the same issue on iPad 1.

Whenever I browse, regardless of Facebook or ther websites, on Safari, Facebook apps or Foxbrowser, my iPad 1 crashes after a while.

I now can't even "Share" articles in Facebook on Safari. It would most likely crash the Safari browser, In Facebook apps I have to go back to the articles several times to read them each time the app crashes.

I have Reset my iPad twice, wiping out all my photos and music too but still fail. The diagnostic log shows "out of memory". But it crashes even without emails, photos or music. So what could cause it to run of memory?in

My next tablet would certainly not be an iPad anymore. It is a problematic product.

Tried every thing , restore , from scratch , restore from back up but I am still having thisproblem .I think it has something to do with high quality graphic on a website e.g this website with table throws prodducts www.vividads.com.au/table-throw.htm as soon as the page loads , that's it my ipad crashed .

Any tips?

I have this same issue and I've wondered whether it's because I have private browsing turned on in Safari and Facebook doesn't like it. I've often wondered if this is deliberate to encourage people to use the app from which Facebook can glean more information about you than it can from the browser with private browsing on. I'm curious to know whether others who experience this problem of private browsing on or off.

I think it is private browsing turned on as well, but I also agree that private browsing on a Windows machine and FF browser causes no problems with FB. So I think it is Safari that can't handle the complex FB website with private browsing turned on. Apple must never read these posts because this is an old and ongoing problem. Usability and performance isn't as much a forte as Apple claims.
