Macbook pro will not turn on without an SMC reset each time.

Works fine until you close the lid. It sleeps normally and "breathes." Then when you open the lid it stops "breathing" and doesn't wake up to any type of key or trackpad activity. It completely shuts down. Hitting the power button doesn't work. The only thing that will let the computer start up is by resetting the SMC each time after you close the lid. My computer is only 2 years old.
