My Lexmark x2350 will not scan now with M Lion OS

My Lexmark 3in1 has never been entirely happy on mac unlike windows xp, but we got by.

The scanning function will no longer work which I attribute to my change over to Mountain Lion OS.

How I wish I had not changed!

I can't seem to resolve what is obviously a problem with the software.

A recent Apple download (Lexmark Driver 2.8dmg) achieved nothing.

Any ideas anyone? Tried Viewscan program but that did not work either.

I found the following advice on Lexmark's Support Site for using your model all-in-one with Mountain Lion:

Section C Installing drivers bundled through Apple Software Update.

IMPORTANT:
These steps apply to Mac OS X10.6 or later. For more information, visit the Lexmark Compatibility Page.

Using Local (USB) connection

Step Action
1. Turn on the printer.
2. Attach the printer to your computer using the USB Cable.
3.

If no previously installed printer is detected, a dialog will display saying, "Would you like to download and install software for <Lexmark Model >?"

User uploaded file

Click Install.

4.

A print queue is automatically created in your system preferences.

To verify successful print queue creation:

Go to System Preferences > Print and Scan or System Preferences > Print and Fax.

Hope this helps 🙂

Hi,

By reviewing the supported models via Apple Software Update I could not find the specific model listed..

However it seems an ICA drivers are available from Lexmark's site.

Enter the following link and select the OS:

http://support.lexmark.com/index?locale=EN&page=product&userlocale=EN_US&product Code=LEXMARK_X2350&focusedTab=DOWNLOADS#2

Under the Drivers category, follow the link and install the package named as Image Capture Application Scan Driver for for 10.6.8 and later Mac OS.

Then you should be able to scan using Image Capture.

Hi Shlomil.

No joy I am afraid. I have been down that road already.

I click Scan but after a few seconds, the message" Scanning process has been cancelled" comes up.

I have progressed inasmuchas I did get the scanner bar to scroll across the viewer by pressing the scan button on the lexmark itself, but it did not translate to the Mac.So there is obviously nothing wrong with the hardware.

I get the same response from either Image Capture or through the actual scan programme.

I cannot fathom why this facility did at one time work under Lion, but not Mountain L!!

Hi again.

Thanks for the clarification and I can see that the X2300 series should be covered by that download.

Sadly it did not work. I have downloaded that driver several times.

I don't think there is any answer to this. So I am now proposing to buy a stand alone Flat bed Scanner

Canon Lide 110 which I am assured will work with Mountain Lion 10.8.1

Thanks for your imput anyway.
