macbook air screen gasket?

-I just bought a macbook air 11in last week, and about two days ago noticed that when I close the computer, there is a small, small gap between the black rubber outline on the bezel and the front left corner of the notebook. The gap is about .5mm. Is this a major problem or am I just being OCD about it? haha

I have the exact same problem and started a thread myself (albeit a different description to what you used).

It's so annoying. My air works fine but like you i guess it's just a tad OCD.

From the replies on my thread it seems that this is not common. All the replies i had said their lids sit flush when they are shut. Mine however only sits flush when i push down on the sides where they seem to sit higher. Low and behold spring back up when there is no pressure.

I'm popping into the apple store on Monday to see if the display models suffer from this and then will ring apple to complain if they are fine.

Paying so much for a laptop i expect perfection. Be glad however, mine sits high on the left and right side. Not good!

Just got back from the apple store and all the screens gaskets were not sitting flush with the bottom panel dude.

There were 3 display airs at 13 inch and all had the same issue, gasket near the hinge wouldn't come into contact with the base of the macbook unless pressure was applied.

I'm guessing the 11's are made in a similar way.

I guess we both have a touch of OCD.

Hey guys,

What did you both do in the end? Just live with it?

I just got a my second Air (as the first one had a crooked display) and I have similar issues to what you described. If I look down the edge of the lid, it seems it is slightly curved.

My issues is, I don't want to keep taking exchanging them because I'm sure every single one has minor differences.

Decided to keep it mate - like you said will be an ever ending cycle of returns. Apple as of late have went downhill. Im typing this on my 4th iphone 5 which still came put of the box with a scratched bezel.

Just dont compare the gasket to a macbook pro unibody of the old design - it fits perfectly. Its just the new gear apple seems to be getting wrong.
