Sep 8, 2012 11:41 AM in response to frontier79by den.thed,Keeping in mind that there is both an input and an output (headphone) jack, are you plugging into the correct jack?
If so and it is still not working, proceed to the following steps.
1. Restart your Mac Mini
2. Reset the SMC > Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)
3. Reset the PRAM > Resetting your Mac's PRAM and NVRAM
Then if it is still not working, contact Apple Support or your AASP and make arrangments for a service appointment. > Apple - Support - Mac mini - Service FAQ

Oct 2, 2016 4:51 PM in response to den.thedby mcbrew,II hadn't this problem with my 2010 Mac Mini today - no output on the headphone jack. If I selected HDMI, it would play through the TV, but I use the headphone jack to send audio to my stereo system. I reset the SMC and it is fixed! Thanks!

Oct 2, 2016 9:24 PM in response to frontier79by Lanny,Look into the headphone jack to see if you see a red light. If so, it's stuck in the optical output mode.
