screen is locked.
Every time I turn it on, the screen shows only the Itunes icon and a usb cord. I cannot get to any other function, despite turning it on and off.

If I hit "restore" will I lose just my ITunes data, or ALL data and files on the phone?
you can restore from a previous backup if one exists on your computer. right click the name of the device and restore from backup. if none exist check and see if you have an icloud backup. other than that yes you will lose all unbacked up info. you can always recover your purchases from iTunes by signing into the store and viewing your purchase history.
