My MB is not syncing with iCloud, although iCloud says I am signed in

How can I get my MB toi sync with iCloud? I thought I would turn off iCloud on the MB then turn it back on, but if I do that I lose both calendars and contacts on the MB. I want the MB to be my source for iCloud

You may want that but not with iCloud. The source is iCloud, there is no sync, you are subscribed to a Dav service (iCloud) from which you receive calendars and contacts. As all iCloud enabled devices are viewing the same datafiles, iCloud is the source.

You can disconnect and your calendars / contacts will be removed from your Mac, they will not be removed from iCloud and will reappear on your Mc when you reconnect to iCloud.

Thanks for your help. The problem is that my MB is not syncing with iCloud. Both iCloud and MB say I am but the MB is not. So if I turn off the MB I lose the calendar events I have in it. Maybe that is what I have to do but I'd rather not. Using Mountain Lion so I'm not sure what's up. Ideas?

You're not helpless, backup your contacts and calendar and anything else you want before you disconnect
