Traveling overseas with a 16GB iPad, storage question

I'm am going to be traveling and want to make sure that I will not be running out of space on my iPad while gone. My iPad is 16 GB and I was thinking that using flickr might help with photo storage. Before I go I want to make sure that if I need to delete photos from my iPad that they won't be deleted off my flickr account. And what might app would be recommended in uploading pictures to flickr
