I just got FCPX and I cant get it to work. It has never worked before so I dont know how to fix it. It will bring up the startup splash page and stay there, giving me the beach ball of death. It doesnt even say that Its updating. PLEASE HELP

Check the spec of your Mac against the system requirements:

Check the spec of your graphics card. If it's listed here, it's not suitable:

If these are OK, there is some conflict on the OS. Create a new (admin) user account on your system and use FCP X from there - if it runs a lot better, there's a conflict and a clean install would be recommended.
