I also have a computer with no OS installed.
What worked for me was to 1) hold down the option key on start-up until the disk/boot icons appear. 2) Then press the eject key (or F12) on the keyboard. Pressing eject on its own did not work.
Big big thank you from me as well. I didn't even know I had a CD in there. Right mouse click worked for me.
J-ho, thanks, that was my issue. Virtual Box had grabbed hold of the CD. I went to Windows on the VM, and ejected the disk and problem solved.
This worked like a charm. Thank you.
This = right-clicking on the mouse during Restart
Jnmaloof...it worked! Thanks!!
to jnmaloof ...
thanks so much!
after twenty-four hours of panic this method worked for me.
I had tried everything to eject my Windows 8.1 disk and then I read your advice. Brilliant. Now can you tell me how I can stop my Macbook Pro (OS X Mavericks) from booting up in Windows?
Mactopman trick did it for me, thx
Your very first tip worked! Restart with left mouse button held down (Bluetooth wireless Magic Mouse) - viola! And I was nearly booking the iMac in for repair.
Thank you!
Typing "reboot" at the terminal helped. The disc drive stopped spinning and it ejected when pressing eject button. Thanks so much. 😁
The best thing stays: reboot your computer and then hold the Mousebutton pressed while booting, the disk will be ejected then. Old Jolliet disks stay in the drive while using the machine...
Hold down right-hand mouse click after start-up chime worked! Thank you!
Option # 5 worked. Thank you.
This is the only way it worked for me. My iMac was not booting, no disply, no chime.
Thanks ajFLORIDA88
