Why do my program download installs go to textedit?

Hi guys,

This may be a dumb question, but thank God for Apple communities with people can answer dumb questions. 🙂 I am trying to install a program on my Mac (YouTube Video Downloader-http://youtubedownloader.com/). When I download it, the default program that opens the installer is Textedit. It is an .exe file. Am I missing something? Is there something I don't know about TextEdit? It opens as an editable document with symbols and characters. Any feedback would be helpful. Thank you guys.

Windows software can't be used in Mac OS X outside of programs such as CrossOver Mac.

An .EXE file is a windows executable file. If you aren't running windows on your computer it will not install. You will need to find a Mac compatible version of the program.

Thank you, Niel. Honestly, didn't occur to me that it was Windows-based. I didn't see the specifications or requirements. That's got to be it. Thank you, man.
