how can I connect my samsung GTS3- 100 cell phone

iMac tells me to make the dfevice discoverable .Now i know my phone has found the Mac because it shows on the phone when i click ther bluetooth application on it( appears as my new devices),It then asks for a pin number but i have not set one up so that should not be relevant, or should it? thanks
