My old macbk Pro died (corrupted start up).  I extracted the HD as an external HD & transferred most files to new MacBk Pro Retina. But could not find a way to trans the music/address book files. I can can see most music albums (not all) as named folders on old HD. Music is also on both iPhone3 & (old) iPod (pre-touch screen). I would prefer to take music off the phone or iPod if possible (as the list is complete) but I can't find a way to import them, and computer warns sync will wipe iPhone/iPod music. Is there a way? Can I extract address book off the old macbkPro (as external HD)?

This looks very promising. Thank you. I'll give it a go in the morning.

Apple doesn't like you to transfer FROM a "i" device to a computer as that may lead to copywrite infringement, Stealing of Music.

So you'll need to find a way to copy your music from the old hard drive. Maybe if you copied the iTunes Library over to the new system.

Sorry don't use iTunes or allow my iPod to connect to my Mac.
