drutil -drive errors. Does this happen to anyone else?

If I type:

drutil -drive

I get:

2006-04-02 12:05:12.761 drutil[499] * Uncaught exception: <NSRangeException> * -[NSCFArray objectAtIndex:]: index (1) beyond bounds (1)
Trace/BPT trap

Not sure if something odd is going on with this machine or simply the error handling in drutil is not exactly robust. Does this happen to anyone else? If so bug filed or not?

Thanks
-j

p.s. I know this is theoretically user error, but I would expect drutil to evaluate the input as incomplete or erroneous and show drutil usage in standard form. If one was to type top -o or top -cpu instead of top -o cpu, the output would be the command reference.

Hi Jason,
Drutil does produce an error message if your only mistake is to fail to provide drutil with a verb. However, that's not your only error. Your error message seems to be produced when you fail to provide the required argument to the "-device" switch. Drutil creates an array in which to put your argument but you provided nothing to put in it. The next reference to the array assumes there's something there and doesn't do a good job of hiding its disappointment at finding nothing.

The man page, "man drutil" may not tell you everything you need to know to use drutil but it does provide the syntax that drutil requires.

The nice thing about Windows is - It does not just crash,
it displays a dialog box and lets you press 'OK' first.
