Q: More info about a particular carrier update?

I am scared of carrier updates because sometimes they take away features...

How do I find out what specifically an "update" is adding and/or removing from my phone?

iPad, iOS 5.1

You have to ask your carrier, or check their web site.

That's what I want to find out, but once they removed tethering so I don't want to loose it again...

Your carrier doesn't need to push an update to remove tethering if they really want to. They can just turn it off on their side.

OK, thanks for that... I guess I'm worried about my phone becoming "locked"... I bought my ipad and iphone in Australia so they are not locked to a specific carrier, I use sim cards from Australia, UK and Japan with no problem and I'd like to keep it that way as I travel a lot.
