remap movie folder to external hard drive

How do I remap the "movie" system folder to an external hard drive or network hard drive?

iMac (27-inch Mid 2011), OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.1)

I need to moniter a 92 year old lady with demensia through the night. I have 2 Foscam cameras in her room and bathroom, both with motion sensing and night vision. the software "uFoscam" by default records directly to the Movies folder and there are no options within that software to redirect the recording location. My problem is a matter of drive space on my iMac. I can move the files manualy to external storage, but I'm not sure I have enough drive space to last through the night. I would rather not use our limited resources to buy a stand alone security system if there is any way around it. (by the way, I lived in Rescue California in the 70's, even went to school in El Dorado Hills)

IF you have insufficient drive space on your iMac then move large libraries such as iTunes, iPhoto, Aperture and iMovie libraries to an external HD to free up space. Media tends to use up the most HD space for most users, so that is the route I'd recommend. I already provided the link for iMovie there similar advice letters in Apple's

I already have all the iTuens and iPhoto etc. on the external drive. It look like I'll just have to let it run tonight and see how much space is burned. As long as I get 8 to 10 hours worth before I hit the wall, I can move the files daily to external storage. If I run out before morning, I'll just have to go the dedicated hardware rout, or find another security camera software that will work with the Foscam cameras and rout to network storage.

Thanks for your help.
