What if I forget my restriction pass code?

Iveread other answers about 'resetting'... That scares me. Does that wipe everything out? Will I lose all content? I'm having trouble with all the things I have to remember. If I write them down, I don't always remember where I wrote them down at. Other than all the codes I have to remember, I love it my IPad. But the codes and passwords are terrible for people with memory issues. Any advice?
