Can't play iTunes rented HD movie - QT not supported in iTunes

Hi,

This is the first movie I've rented since converting over to ML. I donwload the rental fine, but when I go to play it, I get an error mesage:

I opened a case with iTunes support, but after a few emails, they admitted they couldn't help me. They advised me to post a discussion here to get help. The movie is Cloverfield HD.

I'm using iTunes version 10.6.3 and OS X version 10.8.1 . QT Player is 10.2 .

Thanks.

Michael

Try relaunching iTunes in 32-bit mode first, as per the instructions in the following document:

iTunes for Mac: Older media files may require iTunes to reopen in 32-bit mode

while's there's video, there's no sound.

... okay. Sounds like a damaged file. Try switching back to 64-bit mode, and attempting to play the movie again. Does it play properly this time? (On occasion, if the file is slightly damaged, switching to 32-bit then back 64-bit can convince a file to play properly.)
