Sep 9, 2012 6:15 PM in response to jazzpsyby jazzpsy,Didn't know how to add to my post. VLC worked for the video but not audio (only a music track.) I assume I will have to use an audio cable through my stereo to get sound.

Sep 9, 2012 8:33 PM in response to jazzpsyby vazandrew,That's normal. DVD player has been blocked from mirroring.

Sep 10, 2012 3:55 PM in response to jazzpsyby vazandrew,That I haven't heard, can't test directly but all accounts have been positive in regards to that. Are you receiving audiI when mirroring other content?

Sep 11, 2012 9:45 AM in response to vazandrewby jazzpsy,I do get audio with checkerboard screen when using airplay mirroring with Apple DVD player. If VLC audioi works for others I'll have to figure out why it doesn't work for me.
Thanks

Sep 11, 2012 5:14 PM in response to jazzpsyby jazzpsy,Was able to solve lack of audio by selecting airplay audio. New problem is that playback is very jerky on airplay while not a problem on computer. What should be the display settings?

Sep 11, 2012 6:23 PM in response to jazzpsyby vazandrew,If you are noticing lag that could be due to your network.
Check istumbler.net or netstumbler for interference. Ensure other network activity is minimal

Sep 12, 2012 3:55 PM in response to vazandrewby jazzpsy, the reading for my network at the highest is S/N 63%/13% dropping to 51/13 - (would moving airport improve reception)
My neighbors two networks are both 22/13 and another network is 18/13
I have no idea how to interpret thgese figures.
Would air parrot cure the problem?

Sep 12, 2012 4:02 PM in response to jazzpsyby vazandrew,That's not great then. Yes, moving airport would help. Also try changing channels on the router, refer to manual.
Is there any other activity on the network (ie other streaming, network backups etc) ?
I don't believe airparrot would help, especially if it's lag caused by the network
Did you check the link?

Sep 13, 2012 12:00 PM in response to vazandrewby jazzpsy,Just got aff the phone with Apple support - the told me that Airplay mirroring will not work with the Apple DVD player. I'm still stuck with why VLC video is choppy. I tried to reset my Airport extreme channel using airport utility but no channel numbers are displayed - apple support was no help. Can you help me with this?
Thanks,
Martin

Sep 14, 2012 9:08 AM in response to vazandrewby jazzpsy,Both articles are very clear and informative. istumbler indicates that my neighbor's routers are both on channel 11 while I am on channel 1. Knowing this, should I still experiment changing my channel setting? also, AirParrot seems to greatly reduce but does not totally eliminate the choppy effect.

Sep 14, 2012 9:10 AM in response to jazzpsyby vazandrew,I would still try changing channels to see if it helps. Try moving the router if you haven't

Sep 14, 2012 3:51 PM in response to vazandrewby jazzpsy,I think moving the router will also involve moving the modem both of which will have to be moved downstairs from the second story of my house. What's the advisability of cutting into my cable modem line and hooking up a splitter?
