How can I copy contents of a corrupted video file using the Terminal?

I read online that you can copy the contents of a video and paste it after the content of that video in a new file, essentially doubling the file size and duration in this new file using the Terminal.

I have a corrupted video file and it is essential that I double it's content inside to retrieve the lost data. I'm new to using the Terminal so I was wondering how to write that command.
