Sep 10, 2012 11:39 AM in response to Medardby King_Penguin,★HelpfulIf you are on iOS 5 then they will be sorted by their date modified field : photo sorting. If you want them in a different order then you will either need to manipulate their date modified fields, or you could consider using a third-party photo management app instead of the built-in Photos app e.g. Photo Manager Pro allows you to sort photos within the app by name, size, date, rating, or you can drag them into your own order.

Sep 10, 2012 4:51 PM in response to Medardby Medard,That helped explain the problem, but having to "manipulate" 3,000 photos is a kick in the head when the "improved" software obviously fouled up the photo albums of a lot of people.

Sep 29, 2012 12:33 AM in response to Medardby Salisburyblue,★HelpfulThis problem is also reported in several other threads. Apple have told me there is a bug in the code and they are working on fixing it, although they have as yet no date for a fix to be released.
As part of my escalation of the issue, I have asked for the sort order to be fixed as "file name", since this is the only thing a typical can control. The idea that photos should be sync'ed in "date modified" order is mad: the idea that a photo which you crop or from which you remove red eye will then jump to the end of your holiday photos is entirely illogical. I hope they have listened.

Sep 29, 2012 11:18 AM in response to Medardby Medard,Thanks for the update. I, and probably many others, have hundreds of old family photos that have been scanned in at various times and organized by alpha or numeric file names.
