@KiltedTim -
Our official support site has nothing to do with our presence in many blogs and forums across the world. Our work in both fiels is parallel, and we don't see it contradicting.
Our presence here is not meant to "leech bandwidth". We have set to ourselves as a goal to reach out to as many user as possible across the Web and offer direct support. Some users, for example, prefer staying in their usual, familiar platforms to ask questions, and we send our representatives to reply and assist them.
And to your question - after quick discussions with the users, we refer them to the correct location in our official HelpDesk, so our help can be more focused and personal.

I apologize for our confusion.
This problem can actually sometimes be caused within the mobile operater itself, that blocks our SMS and automatic calls. As we suggested above, please try removing Viber, wait 24 hours, reinstall and try again (make sure you try both the SMS and the automated call options). If this doesn't help, contact our support team at http://helpme.viber.com and give them the details of the problem.
