How do I stop automatic sync through iTunes to my iPhone?

How do I stop my iPhone from importing mudic every time I download from iTunes on my computer?

iPhone 4S, iOS 5.1.1

My problem is that even though it's not connected to the computer, it will automatically download from both locations. How do I stop that?
