Currently using an imac late 2009 with updated OX lion 10.7.4- Having trouble with the wifi, it switches off automatically every 5 to 10 mins but doesn't prompt me for a password when I switch back on. Appreciate any help out there. thank you! 😐

This is a common problem with wifi. The obvious answer is that your channel you have setup your WLAN on is experiencing noise from the surrounding devices (including other dodgy routers) and interferring with the signal.
Try changing your channel number on your router to another channel, usually automatically set to 11. I had no end of problems exactly like this but as soon as I changed channels, not a single drop even after three months.
Wifi trouble- keeps switching off automatically.. Help
