Q: Why does my 720p TV only shows the top-left part of the desktop when mirroring

I upgraded to ML mostly to get this feature, but it's not working correctly with a Sony Bravia 720p TV. I only get the top-left part of the desktop, it's not resizing (though the desktop image shrinks to the same shape). Some setting I can use to fix this?

I have the same problem with a ATV 3 while using a 720p Samsung HDTV. SO far I have solved it setting the resolution in the ATV to auto instead of 720p.

My tv is 720p only but it accepts 1080p and downconverts it so there is no problem.

It sounds like he is actually talking about connecting his iMac or power book to his TV since you can not install ML on ATV.  If that is the case this question would need to be in a differnt forum.  I am guessing it is a problem with the resolution/refresh settings and or cable being used.  Pretty much garentee that is not a supported use of mirroring.  And using a second monintor is not a new feature in ML.  They have had that for a long time.
