Do these same songs play in iTunes okay? What format are these tracks in and what bitrate are they encoded? Are these downloads from the iTunes Store or were they imported from outside of iTunes?

Yes, those songs play in iTunes and in my iPhone correctly, they were imported from outside.
The format is .m4a (AAC) and the bit rate isn't the same for all, some of them are in 95 kbps, 146 kbps, 105 kbps...
Try converting them to another format or encoding them to a different bitrate.
