Force quit is not working.
Force quit is not working or the C-S-O Esc? What next?

That is not the same thing at all 🙂
I would suggest starting a new "Post".
If you are NOT using Snow Leopard, I would suggest starting your new "Post" in the forum related to your specific operating system version.
In your new "Post", I would also suggest posting the EtreCheck output
<https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-6174> or <https://etrecheck.com>
Also look to see if you have any kernel panics
Kernel Panic reports: Finder -> Go -> Go to Folder -> /Library/Logs/DiagnosticReports
<http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2546>
<http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT200553>
The panic report should have "panic" in the file name.
and if you do, please post a few of the most recent panics.
Again, in a new "Post", not pigging backed on a thread that is not really describing your problem.
It is Command Option Escape, also it exists under the  menu item. If it does not work the first time, repeat Force Quit the stalled application, a second time
Not working.
Try it this way. Open Activity Monitor in Utilities. Set to Active Processes, select/highlight the application, then "Quit Process."
You can do it from Terminal also and from there it has to work. Post back if the above doesn't do it.
Might also be some temporary glitch. Try restarting.
Yeah, try WZZZ'z suggestion.

It worked. Thanks
Both the "Force Quit" and "Terminal" method are not working for me
You might want to consider starting a new discussion. Since this one is marked solved and is a couple of years old, less people are likely to look at it. A new post would be much more visible. You can link to this one.
You tried by going to the  menu? Command - option/alt - esc? If those don't work, try Activity Monitor or restart the computer.
Force Quit will not work if the process that you want to kill never leaves kernel address space. In order for Force Quit to work, a program must transition from kernel space to user address space.
This can happen if the process you are trying to kill is a kernel process only.
This can happen if a process is hung waiting for some kernel requested activity to complete and it is not happening. This does not tend to happen, but if you have 3rd party kernel extensions installed, they could interfere with normal kernel activities. Or if there is a failing disk, a process may hang trying to read a disk (internal or external).
I tried to download new operating system and it's stuck. Camt pull menu to force quite. I turned off computer and can't fix it. Help please!
Try command - option/alt - esc.
On my keyboard I have to hold down "Fn" key first, then Command, Option, Esc.
Try it.
Thankyou verymuch!! I was wondering long time about this.. Now your option works like a charm on a first try.. 🙂
