I believe the original poster was looking for information on why it's not in the iTunes store when normally one could purchase a season pass and watch episodes the day after they aired.

It would seem that any programs on FX have been either removed or are no longer available as Season Pass programs. Searching by network on Apple TV doesn't even list FX.

Like most things Apple, we'll know when it becomes available when it actually appears in the iTunes store. In the past, SOA has appeared in the iTunes store the day after the episode airs. But since it aired less than 12 hours ago (as of this post), they're probably till sleeping in Cupertino. I'm hoping for later today. But don't forget that there needs to be licensing agreements and while it would be safe to assume that these are in place, we really don't know for sure.

This isn't making any sense, Apple please jump in here.

I've always purchased Season Passes for shows currently "on air" and they are ready the day after the air date. SOA #5 isn't even listed. Neither for that matter is Weeds #8. So, could we get some clarification. I do not have cable because I have Apple TV and an active credit card 🙂 . Let's get this resolved.

Kurt Sutter's blog post was up for a sum total of approximately three hours, and it has disappeared without a trace. Speculating that he has once again been asked to tone down his knee jerk and honest reactions. Here's his bullet points, for what it is worth:

- Apple wants to make their own network, and has been historically kinda bitchy to deal with

- Networks keep certain identifying markers on their shows when sold through iTunes, in the case of FX shows like SOA, there's an FX thingy at the beginning and the end and a little FX logo in the bottom corner throughout the show

- Apple wants all networks to strip those identifiers from their shows. Those identifiers are the only copyright infringement protections the networks have, so understandably the networks are balking at that

- Rumors are that that stripping of identifiers has something to do with Apple making their own network

- Sutter said FOX/FX would never go for that for fear that Apple would try to take their shows and pass them off as their own, or at least confuse customers because they would have no way to really tell without those identifiers

Oh, and he said go buy at Amazon.

Can't imagine why this might have ruffled feathers! 😮 I do enjoy his "speak first, deal later" style.
