dvd drive is not recognized
I thought that my DVD drive quit working, and bought and installed new super drive, but it is still not getting dvd's. It does show in the hardware manager screen.

Did you get the Apple USB SuperDrive? It only works with the Retina MBP, the MacBook Air and the Mac Mini. If you have a non-retina MBP the Apple USB SuperDrive won't work with it.
didn't work
the regular PC USB drive works fine, I was talking about internal DVD superdrive. I put brand new drive, it is recognized by hardware manger (About Mac-advanced options), but would not mount DVD/CD into the system. I believe it is a software problem not a hardware problem. I was too lazy to go into command line level to try manual mounting, took off new drive to return it to the vendor, put old back and gave user external USB DVD/CR/RW/-R/+R Lenovo drive to use.
