How can I let people know that there is an update available when they have already downloaded the iBook? Thanks!

Books aren't update-notified like apps...it's up to you to create your own scheme.

Options include a Widget that communicates with your own server to notify the user inside the book. You can also be sure to communicate book status on your own web site.

Personally, I think the best approach is to get the book right the first time. If you expect a routine of new info, either release another edition, such as book 2, being sure to tell book 1 users that's your plan, or make apps instead.

If your think notifications should be like apps, feel free to use the 'Provide iBooks Author Feedback' menu item for features you'd like added in the future, etc.
