Hi,
is it possible to plug-in e.g. a guitar into my mac and let it sound like a software instrument, e.g. a piano? In other words, is it possible to operate a software instrument by playing a real instrument?

no, you need to use a MIDI instrument (a MIDI guitar for instance)

So I simply plug my guitar into the midi-converter and the converter into my computer? Anything else to do in GarageBand?

I've never tried the Sonuus but I'm guessing it's that easy. Of course you would need to choose a software track and turn monitoring on but that should be it.
