False disk error at start up
How do I get rid of the message "The disk you inserted was not readable by this computer" that comes up at the start of computer when no disk was inserted?

Sounds like you've got a hard drive problem.
Don't suppose you've got an external hard drive with Mac Lion installed (First thing I did when I heard no DVD supplied)?
Failing that, you may want to contact your re-seller if it is still under warranty.
