(The file "iTunes Library.itl" cannot read because it was created by a newer version of iTunes.) This shows up and cannot open iTune anymore. Why? What shall I do?

Is there a story behind this such as you have just reinstalled the operating system on your computer? If you did that, download the newest iTunes from Apple's web site (do not use Software Update) and install it.
It from Apple New Zealand screen, it comes up first when I open Safari.
How to update iTune of my Mac 10.5.8 ?
