Q: Trioubleshooting when installing a seagate external HD. Any clue of how to solve it?

I just bought an external HD Seagate backup plus portable driver. When I tryed to install it, mac said: You can’t open the application “MacInstall” because it’s not supported on this type of Mac."

You can just ignore that application if you don;t want to use it. An external hard drive should simply run when you plug it in. It does not need any special installtion or special drivers loaded, as your Mac already has the necessary driver to run it.

On a seperate note, with an external, drive, you have the ability to accept the format that it comes with, such as FAT 32 for example, or reformat it to run exclusively with your Mac, by choosing  Mac OS Extended (journaled) format, in Disk Utility under the Erase tab.
