Brand new Macbook crashing too often

I bought a brand new macbook pro less than 2 months ago.

I'm surprised the the amount of times I had to restart it. Safari, System Preferences and other applications have been crashing far too often.

I wonder if this is related to Mountain Lion or if could be a hardware problem of some sort.

Anyone experiencing something similar?

I appreciate any help.
