Running hot and battery draining really fast!

I got my MacBook in November of 2010. It has been wonderful! As of yesterday I noticed it was getting hotter than usual and the fan is a lot louder than normal. The battery is also draining super fast like 10% in 5 minutes. I checked the usage of all activities in my utilities. Mds and desk jet are running in the 90s. What do I do next? I am not a computer pro but I can figure out some things,so don't get too technical with me! Just need some help and advice.
