Remove shortcut keys

Hi Folks,

I am trying to build a collection of Internet browsing kiosks using Safari and the SAFT plugin and as part of this I need to disable some Safari shortcut keys.

I have managed to disable some using the method:

shell$ defaults write com.apple.Safari NSUserKeyEquivalents -dict-add "View Source" "nil"

...but this has proved unsuccessful for the "Show Sidebar" and "Show Bookmarks Bar" keys.

I have tried adding them to the NSUserKeyEquivalents as "Bookmarks" and "Show Bookmarks". Can anyone please tell me what I need to add instead to disable these?

I seem to have flummoxed y'all 😟

Well I'm pretty new to this whole Mac thing and would be really grateful for any pointers on how I might go about finding the info out (I've pretty much exhausted Google to get as far as I have...) places to look in the software, or good, hardcore forums.

I have nailed it! It was as simple as adding white space (2x space bar) resulting in :

shell$ defaults write com.apple.Safari NSUserKeyEquivalents -dict-add " Bookmarks Bar" "nil"

and

shell$ defaults write com.apple.Safari NSUserKeyEquivalents -dict-add " Sidebar" "nil"

However the forum appears to have removed my spaces, so in the example below, I hacve replaced the 3 spaces with underscores:

shell$ defaults write com.apple.Safari NSUserKeyEquivalents -dict-add "_Bookmarks Bar" "nil"
