Is there an unlocked iphone 5?

Not announced yet...we'll have to wait & see when pre-orders start.

In the USA. In Canada and other countries, the unlocked version was available for pre-order.

Thanks for the information, glad to know Apple caters to the US carriers in keeping their customers in contract bonds and making us wait for the unlocked version. At least Gizmodo confirms the pricing for iPhone 5 in the US will be same as the old 4S pricing.

Actually, Apple announced that there will be an unlocked version of the iPhone 5 shortly before the pre-order capability went live.

i think the unlocked version will be out in november (in the us)
