Really disappointed that a iPad mini wasn't announced today. That said, I am thinking of getting the new iPod Touch instead.
Seeing how they both run iOS 6, other than the obvious size difference, what features does the iPad offer that the new iPod does not?

Some apps are likely not to be avaialble for the iPod because the smaller screen size make it too hard to use.
I've had both and it's like apples to oranges. While seemingly similar, they are different in more ways than one. Or ten.
I've had both too. A second gen iPod Touch and the new iPad. However other than the smaller screen - since they both run the same iOS - I don't see much difference except that the iPod is much more portable (which for me is a plus). I won't be using this for music but instead for apps.
Touch doesn't have GPS, uses wireless for location based services.
Yes GPS is not built in, but it can be easily added via bluetooth.
