Personal Hotspot client monitor
Is there a way to monitor info (IP, MAC, Hostname, etc.) of clients connected to my iPhone's Personal Hotspot? Surely there must be a way to get more info than simply how many connections are currently active.

Been an iPad and iPhone user for about a year now. I noticed right off that when someone asks about a feature that doesn't exist the answer is usually something like "you don't need it" or just no. Keep sending notes up to the device development and marketing folks. In this case, even your most basic hotspot or router in the real world has a feature to see who's connected by device id.

I start wondering that today when I saw 4 connections on my hotspot and I only have 3 devices. Then I realized that my iPad was connected via bluetooth and WiFi .. that was the 4th connection. Every time I turned off one of the connections (WiFi or bluetooth) the 4th connection on my iphone dissapeared. I does not answer your question but at least this may answer some of the questions around here.
IT should let you know what devices are connected to it but thats why you put a password on your hotspot so you know its only you and who ever you give it out to to see whos using it
And that's all I want it to tell me... who's connected... IP/MAC/Hostname of all connected clients. BTW, I have it password protected, but I'd still like to know which of the people I gave the password are currently connected. As well as if anyone unknown is connected that might have guessed my password or hacked in.
Anyone know?
No, there is no such app. If you think that your password has been guessed or hacked, change it.
I am at home with an iPad, a MacBook Air, and my iPhone 5. My iPhone show one connected client on Personnal HtSpot. Neither my MacBook Air or iPad are connected to my Network. I would like to know some info about this client like it's Mac Address.
I need to know this also. Has anyone an answer. Or can you point me to iOS resources that would intro me to the workings of the personal hotspot? I'll build something.
When you connect your phone via USB to your computer, your phone will show a connection. Check out the last bullet on this page: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2756
If you find out let me know because today I found 3 connections and I only had my ps3 and my desktop connected not to sure where the 3rd one was from
One day, my Laptop was connected thru Wifi on the iphone
I saw "1 connection"
Then the battery was low, and decide to connect the iphone on the laptop with the cable, then
I saw "2 connection"
so my unkown connection was in fact the same laptop counting for a second connection thru the cable.
In fack the cable connection became the primary
I'd love to see an app like this. I have a battery powered but headless raspberry Pi that I control through my ipad. It will auto join my iPhone hotspot if my home wifi is not detected but I can't vnc or ssh to it without connecting to a display to get its ip.
Any suggestions?
if you have one of the other devices connected iether via bluethooth or with usb cable it will show as 1 connection.
I would also like to find out why in my home my iPhone regularly reports three connections to my hotspot. I can't imagine AppleTV is using the connection or my iPad when they haven't been used for 24hrs, so I like to find out! Isn't it common sense to be able to see which devices are connected????
I have my hotspot secured with a password of course. Sitting in the airport and noticed 2 active connections when only my iPad was being used. Turned out I was also connected via bluetooth to the ipad. Turned off bluetooth on the iPhone and the second connection went away.
yep, that was it. bluetooth
