Q: Anyone have experience with "No SIM Card" message? The card is installed, worked fine then got the error. Did full power down, and it worked, this happened a couple times, now it's dead.

I have an iPad 2 with ATT 3 G. I was using the 3G this weekend, everything worked fine. Then I got a pop up message "No SIM Card". I did a full power down and it worked again for an hour or so then the message. This happened a couple times, now it is dead. I took the card out and reinstalled a couple times but no luck. Do SIM cards fail or is this an issue with the iPad?

I have the same issue with an iPad 2.

Have taken it to an Apple Store and they tell me the sim card reader has failed.

There is nothiong else wrong with the iPad.

The only option is to pay £200 for a replacement device!

    Not happy!

It's only 18 months old and has not had excessive use or been mishandled.

When the error first occurred, I removed the SIM Card, whipped it off and reinstalled. This worked a couple times but did not resolve it. After that, I took the iPad to the AT&T store. The guy removed the card, blew in the slot, reinstalled the card and now it works fine. And has for several weeks...... Apparently it needed a little hot air fromAT&T.......
