I'm Deaf and was used to have LED notifications on my old 'berry, 'kick, and an Android device. What I'm seeing is that iPhones do not have that. Will iPhone 5 have that feature? I looked at the new specs and there is no mention about the LED notification. I'm aware that recent models have flash-based and works OK when the phone is faced down. I'm hoping for something with the phone facing up on a table.

I agree with your concern, it's so important to have an LED notification. It's a very small feature but of great help.

with a reference link to this post just to make them understand that iPhone users need it the most.
Let's hope apple will include this feature one day ! 🙂
hey im deaf too and I used to have a Bberry too and as for your question, yes it does but it works on the back camera's flash. just go in settings, general, accessability then turn on LED flash for alerts. i use it a lot on my iphone 4 and the flash is bright enough to illuminate anything it lights up. why dont you give it a try ;-)

I do NOT want the phone to be FACED DOWN on a surface so that I can see the flash on back of the phone. It only flashes just ONCE, which is why I said it works OK on my first post. I have to flip over and press the button to see if I have anything on the badge or banner. Then flip it back again to allow the flash to be visable. Is that convenience for you? This is not for me.
What I WANT is to have the phone FACED UP on the desk or table, and be able to see if I have any new messages at a glimpse without touching anything. It should BLINKS for 10, 30, or 60 minutes or so, depending on settings. That is convenience for me.
No such functionality exists.
There are no LEDs on the front of any model iPhone.
