Q: I want to sync my iPhone 4S with my MacBook Air, seems simple enough...

I am having trouble syncing my iPhone 4S with my MacBook Air. I thought all I had to do was connect my USB cable to the iPhone and to my lapatop and voila, it wound sync, but I guess not. Any ideas?

iPhone 4S, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.1)

A:

iTunes has to be launched in order to sycn. Depending on your settings, it may launch when you plug in the iPhone, it may not. Launch iTunes, plug in your iPhone. Does it appear in Devices in the sidebar?

You're not giving us much to go on. What's happening? What error messages are you getting? Is iTunes launching?

I didn't get any message, that was what surprised me. However I went to turn off my computer and I received a message saying it was syncing and that it would stop if I turned off my computer. I had lauched iTunes, shouldn't I have seen some messge? I thought I would see the iPhone on the desktop too. Thanks for your help.

I had launched iTunes, I just did not see iPhone or any message re: the iPhone, Thank you for your tip to look under Devices--it had my name, not iPhone. Thank you for your help, my iPhone is in sync!
