I updated iTunes (10.7) and now iPhone Configuration Utility will not run.

I update iTunes to 10.7 today and now the iPhone configuration utility configuration utility will not run. It doesn't give an error message. Nothing happens.

I tried uninstalling both applications and re-installing them. Still doesn't fix the problem. This is on a Win 7 SP1 32 bit system. Anyone else seen this yet?

I tried to find down why it doesn't start. And I see ipcu.log file on this location: (Windows 7 SP1 Ultimate)

C:\Users\$USER$\AppData\Local\Apple Computer\iPhone Configuration Utility

On this file, it show an error:

Error: Exception from OnStartupInitial: A procedure imported by 'ManagedMobileDevice, Version=3.5.0.289, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null' could not be loaded.

I tried to:

- Uninstall iTunes 10.7, iPCU 3.5

- Install iTunes 10.6.3, iPCU 3.5 again

- Copy this file ManagedMobileDevice.dll from another PC to my PC:

C:\Program Files (x86)\iPhone Configuration Utility

=> But still unable to open iPCU => It effected my work too much. Because I have to use iPCU almost time 😟

Hope that sometimes can resolve this problem! Thank you in advance.

Same thing here. I was using the configuration utility at work this morning on my windows 7 workstation then I installed the 10.7 update. Then I went to open the utility again and it wouldn't. I didn't get an error or anything....wheels just spin and then nothing.

I tried reinstalling, and deleting app data...several combinations of this, restarts, etc.

Looked at the app data found the same Error: Exception from OnStartupInitial: A procedure imported by 'ManagedMobileDevice, Version=3.5.0.289, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null' could not be loaded.

Need this fixed pronto!!!! "Enterprise Software"...

Ok, was able to fix it. This is also all hinging on you having VSS (when you right click the folder is one of the options previous versions) enabled as well as access to the previous itunes version. Uninstall iphone configuration utility. Uninstall Itunes.

Go to C: Users/Youruser/appdata/ there are three folders. Wherever there is anything apple related, simply restore to a previous version before the 10.7 install. Do this in local and roaming within app data.

Also do it in C:/programdata/ and anywhere in that folder where there is anything apple related (I'm just being thorough).

Also do the same in C:/Users/YourUser/My Music/Itunes and reset the whole folder to a time previous the install (otherwise it won't recognize your library as it is from a later version)

If you want to be extra thorough, go into C:/program files(x86)/commonfiles and C:/programfiles/commonfiles and delete all apple related things here.

After all this is done. Reinstall the previous version of itunes, reinstall the configuration utility, and hopefully, you're good. It worked for me.

I have the same problem. I run Mountain Lion on my MacBook Pro (Mid 2010) and since I updated to iTunes 10.7 neither my iPhone nor my iPod Touch appears. It also doesn't give me any error message, NOTHING happens... iTunes doesn't even acknowledge that I connected my device

I am so frustrated because I need to sync my photos and well, MY MUSIC and I can't...

PLEASE FIX THIS A.S.A.P!!!

I got a workaround in Windows 7 (64 bit) by:

1. uninstall iTune 10.7.

2. reinstall iPhone Configuration Utility.

3. backup "Apple" folder in "C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files" to "Apple.iPCU".

4. install iTune 10.7.

5. backup "Apple" folder to "Apple.iTunes".

Now the ugly workaround:

When using iPCU:

1. rename "Apple" to "Apple.iTunes".

2. rename "Apple.iPCU" back to "Apple".

When using iTunes:

1. rename "Apple" to "Apple.iPCU".

2. rename "Apple.iTunes" back to "Apple".
