USB Hub

Hello.

I have a Black MacBook early 2008, (4gb ram, 2.4ghz, 10,7,4) which has 2 usb ports. I have been given a cheap usb hub which has turns one usb ports into 4. I am a logic user and I currently use via usb a external usb soundcard (fast track pro by m audio) and a usb midi keyboard. There 2 items use up both of my available ports. However when I connect them using the adapter/bus/hub, I am unable to make them work.

I was wanting to purchace another item (Native Instruments Machine), but this runs via usb too and I dont have the ports. Does anyone know if there is a work around for this?
