Oct 3, 2012 4:23 PM in response to serenDby Ricky Rodriguez1,one thing I've noticed is that if you have an unknown contact text me while i'm in my CRV and connect via bluetooth, the system will read it like normal but the option for "reply" and "call" are available. On the other hand, when a contact that's in my phone text me the system does not give me the option for "reply" or "call". I can't figure out if it's something to do with the vehicle or the iphone.

Jan 3, 2013 2:13 PM in response to Bham_Billby PhillipsABQ,I just bought a 2013 Nissan Altima SV with the technology package (not the Nav Package). From the very beginning, my iPhone 5 paired with the system just fine - Bluetooth Audio and hands free phone works perfect, as does Siri. I was very excited to learn while reading the Owner's Manual that hands free texting was also a part of the technology package and that as long as the phone you're connecting has MAP capabilities, you're good to go. So I just tested it - and it worked!
Thanks to some of the posts on this thread, I knew there were just a few settings to tweak on the phone (enabling Notifications on the bluetooth setting itself for My Car) and few more settings to tweak on the car, and presto! I now get a nice notification on both the main audio screen and the Drive Assit Display whenever a text is received. I have the option to have the car read it to me or ignore it. I can also use the car to send canned replies like "Can't text, driving" or "OK"; or I can use Siri for more interestintg replies. The point is, I no longer am tied to looking at just the phone while in my car and a text comes in (which, we all know, is dangerous and very unwise).
I did notice, however, that after each change to either my iPhone or the Bluetooth settings on the car's audio system a reboot was required of both my phone and the car audio system in order for the changes to be applied. Don't know if a simple reconnect via airplane mode or a bluetooth on>off would have done the same thing, but, after reconnect, the notifications and the hands free texting did work as expected.

Its a shame your solution has not been bumped up the search more. I stumbled upon this fix by accident. Thank you for taking the time to write out your steps.
