If the purpose of the transfer is so you can work on it further using iBooks Author, you need to transfer the .iba files. You can do this via emai or thumb drive or whatever other means you normally use to transfer files.

I am still trying to comprehend your suggestion. I can't figure out a way to activate the email option.
Step 1 - I have nearly completed an iPhoto Book on my old iMac. I will be on the road for an extended period of time and can't take my old iMac desktop with me. I was hoping to finish the iPhoto book on my macbook pro while I am gone. That is the main reason for wanting to transfer .
Step 2 - Reason two is my iMac is too old to load the iBooks author software which is forcing me to transfer it to another computer.

iPhoto books have nothing to do with iBooks. You need to repost your original question in the iPhoto forum:
