Updating and "antique" MacBook OSX10.4.11.

My MacBook is 5 years old running on an Intel 2Ghz Core Duo with 1GB of memory and these days it's just not keeping up. Does anyone know about updating? I'd love to bring it current to Mountain Lion but realize I need a few new updates to get there. Does anyone know what steps to take and if it's worth trying to update at this point or just start all over new(not really an option).

Thanks.

I don't think a Core Duo (vs Core 2 Duo) can do Lion or Mountain Lion. Snow Leopard yes, if you have the RAM.

To get hold of Lion or Snow Leopard you will need to call Apple as these things are not available online.
