Do AirPlay and AirPlay-compatible devices support AIFF playback in 16-bit, 48kHz resolution or higher?

I am looking to purchase an AirPlay-compatible network player such as the Pioneer Elite N-50 or the Marantz NA7004, or a receiver with built in AirPlay support, i.e. the Marantz NR1603. However, I need to know if AirPlay supports lossless AIFF playback over the network from both PC and the iPod Touch. Quality is critical to me; I have many lossless AIFF files (copied from CDs) in my iTunes library.

P.S. If buying a Mac is the ONLY way to stream AIFF or lossless files over AirPlay then I would consider that option as well. Preferably, I would stick with what I already own.
